Bk Divco: A History of the Truck and Company by Ebert & Rienzo Jr
Our Price: $25.00

Introduction: "Divco was a survivor. For 60 years, Divco survived the trials and tumult of the Depression, a world war, numerous mergers and acquisitions, and a dramatically changing environment for its product, multi-stop delivery trucks. After almost exactly 60 years, Divco production came to an end in early 1986. Even at the end, in one sense, Divco was a survivor because it was a profitable product for its builder. The Divco story is one of trucks, people, and a changing economy. It is a tale of innovation and creativity as well as one of mistakes, oversights, and miscalculations. In the pages that follow, we hope the reader will gain an appreciation for the environment in which Divcos were designed, built, sold, and used and how they came to be 'America's Favorite Milk Truck.'" The World's Toughest Truck: The Reo/Diamond Reo Story by Ebert, Neal & Fijalkovich
Our Price: $25.00

Introduction: "When Ransom E. Olds left Oldsmobile and with his associates formed the Reo Motor Car Company in 1904, it would have been difficult to predict that the company's history would span three quarters of a century and encompass the production of automobiles, trucks, lawn mowers, and even children's toys. The Reo and Diamond Reo story, therefore, is one of products of various sorts, but especially automobiles and trucks. This book is devoted to the history of the trucks built by Reo and Diamond Reo and to the history of the company that built those trucks.

As part of our attempt to make the history of Reo and Diamond Reo presented here as comprehensive as possible, the appendices to this book include a comprehensive listing of Reo and Diamond Reo truck models and basic specifications assembled from a variety of sources (see Appendix A). While we made every attempt to be as complete as possible in that listing, we are humbled by a realization that "The Reo" built such a large variety of trucks and models that it would have been virtually impossible to include every model. The listing of models and specifications, therefore, is a general guide to the products produced by Reo and Diamond Reo.

The story of a company, though, is not just the story of its products. Companies have personalities that in many ways are shaped by the people who work there. When someone said he or she worked at "The Reo," that had a particular meaning and implied that that person was part of more than an industrial concern, but was also part of a culture and way of life.

The Reo and Diamond Reo story, therefore, is both a story about trucks and people. Here we examine and discuss the products that came off the assembly line at "The Reo." We celebrate the successes and describe the failures of the company. But, in all of this, we try to keep in mind that it was people who made Reo and Diamond Reo what they were and it was people who ultimately suffered through the decline and disappearance of the venerable firm."
